What kind of work did you do before joining WeLearn?

Before joining WeLearn, I was involved in environmental laws and sustainability.

I think there were a lot of slightly unusual tasks, such as auditing the factory and obtaining different certifications.

現在はどういった仕事をされていますか?

What kind of work do you do now?

Currently, I’m working on implementation as a Salesforce engineer.

We customise the Salesforce software, without using code, according to the customer’s needs.

What was your motivation or reason for joining WeLearn?

In my previous job, I had the opportunity to handle data to some extent, I was working on efficiency improvement using Excel functions , VBA, and automation. That kind of work was so much fun that it made me want to become an engineer.

Salesforce engineers have a place to play an active part even if they have no coding experience. In addition to technical skills, WeLearn also highly regards language and communication skills. After a few chance circumstances, I was able to make my engineering debut at WeLearn.

海外経験や英語を学んだ経験はありますか?

Do you have any experience working abroad or learning English?

During my childhood, I lived abroad for about eight years and went to a British primary school.

Since I was learning English at school, I had to study Japanese at home. Learning Kanji was tough then, and it still is now!

What is the most important thing in your work?

We feel that it is very important to understand the needs of our customers. Our job is to provide solutions to meet their needs, but we always keep in mind that if we do not have an accurate understanding of the project, it will head in the wrong direction.

How do you communicate with team members in a fully remote work environment?

We use chat and web meetings as our main communication tools. In my team, we regularly hold chat times, etc., and because we are fully remote, I feel that everyone is consciously trying to communicate effectively.

Are there any points that make you feel glad that you joined WeLearn?

Compared to standard Japanese companies, there is a lot more freedom. There are very few restrictions on work style, place of residence, commuting time, physical appearance, etc., I have the liberty to live life the way I want to.

How would you describe your WeLearn coworkers?

I think most of them are friendly. It’s all about the people who are willing to reply to questions quickly. There really is an international environment, and I feel that the focus is on “clearly conveying” rather than “understanding without saying”.

Do you have a good work-life balance?

Work is usually completed on time. Flextime allows you to adjust your working hours, so it’s easy to make time for yourself.

What are your hobbies?

I like nails, and when I feel like it, I practise my nail art.

Also, I’ve always wanted to be able to play the violin, so currently I’m looking for an apartment where I can play an instrument.

How do you spend your time after work and on weekends?

I’m very much an indoor person, but I like fruits, so when I go out, I go out to eat parfaits and fruit cakes. Recently, I’ve also become addicted to growing and tending to plants and flowers. I’d like to collect succulents and grow a cute plant arrangement. But, I’m still a beginner, and I’m worried that I may be too careless and lazy to tend to them.
